Last week I posted a link to a bill introduced in Tennessee that would deny individuals access to bathrooms that aren’t aligned with their genitalia. This week I came across another bill that is meant to be an “anti-bullying” policy, but is really designed to allow kids the freedom to bully and harass kids regarding sexual orientation, gender identity and expression with the argument that their religious beliefs allow them the freedom to harass anyone they want.

This is ridiculous. In fact, if I were a person in this country that was a member of an organized religion, I would start fighting these extreme groups that are causing more and more people to have a bad taste in their mouths anytime they hear or read the word, “religion”. The people that support or develop the language for these type of bills are using the word, “religion” to try and protect what they perceive as their right to hate, discriminate and control.

Here is the argument for this bill being created/passed, “The Family Action Council of Tennessee, who backed HB-1153 in their December newsletter, claimed they want to ‘make sure [the law] protects the religious liberty and free speech rights of students who want to express their views on homosexuality.’”
