This is an interesting article and one that continues to support how sharing stories and being open changes perceptions and opens doors for new opportunities. One sentence that surprised me in this article was, “Perhaps most surprisingly, the majority of Evangelical protestants and Republicans were even found to support transgender rights and legal protections.”
If this is the case, then why don’t all states in the U.S. offer protections based on gender identity/expression? Currently we have 21 states that offer legal protections toward individuals based on sexual orientation and only 16 (plus D.C.) that offer protections based on gender identity. If this report is correct, then I’m hoping in the years to come we see both numbers increase regarding state AND federal protections.
