Ryan Sallans, activist and author, transitioned from female to male in 2005 and has recounted his life experiences in his newly released memoir, Second Son: Transitioning Toward My Destiny, Love and Life.

Since he began he has been committed to education surrounding medical, legal and social issues related to the transgender community. This blog serves as a guide and resource for individuals seeking guidance in the transgender community or for friends, family, lovers and partners who are eager to learn more about how a transition may impact the individual's life and those around them.

Gender Reel - Mini Film Festival - May 31st in Philadelphia

Are you one of hundreds gearing up for the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference starting May 31 through June 2, 2012?

If so, then mark one more thing down on your calendar.

The first night of the conference, May 31st, there will be the first-ever Gender Reel Mini Film Festival from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in room 103A at the Convention Center.

Then, for you night owls, there will be the 2nd Annual “Still Coming Out,” fundraiser at Tabu (200 S 12th Street) from 9:45 pm-2 am.  Artists featured include: Ryan Cassata, Wordz the Poet Emcee, Geppeta, Katastrophe and Dynasty (our MC), AND I have the honor of opening the night with a reading from my memoir, Second Son! So if you have time, please come down before 9:45pm!
