I live in this flannel.
The following is a declaration by the 4th European Transgender Council who are standing against transphobic and racist violence and harassment.
I am posting this because it is important for us all to remember that we become vulnerable when we stand up and speak out for equality. We become vulnerable by the criticism and judgement held within our very own community as well as those who don’t understand or are fearful of things that don’t fit their idealized version of how our society should be.
I’ve also decided to post this because what we experience in our community, is also experienced worldwide. Some regions experience harsher attacks, punishment and marginalization than others, which is why we all need to continue to work together, even if our identities, stories and experiences are very different.
Lastly, I posted this as a shout out to Ireland….a place where part of my heritage has come from and where I hope to return someday.
