Ryan Sallans, activist and author, transitioned from female to male in 2005 and has recounted his life experiences in his newly released memoir, Second Son: Transitioning Toward My Destiny, Love and Life.

Since he began he has been committed to education surrounding medical, legal and social issues related to the transgender community. I am extremely saddened to read that after the East Aurora School board in Illinois passed a policy that would have allowed protections for transgender and gender nonconforming students…five days later rescinded it. It should be noted that the school board caved due to the intimidation by another group called the Illinois Family Institute (IFI), a conservative Christian ministry. Who else is getting tired of these groups that operate under the fuel of hate keep it hidden under the words “christian.”  Such b.s. You can read the whole article here.
