I treat them and massage them but idk and i want them to fade. My surgeon said it should be flatten out by a year post op but i am passed that and they are still raised and it bothers me because i cant just put on a tee i have to put a tank top under so that the scars do not show if i go out or even the gym.

They may flatten out a little more but at this point I think you should talk with your surgeon about options for treating the scars. Some doctors will do some injections and use a laser machine to try and help break down the scar tissue, so this may be an option for you. BUT, I think the best option would be to have your surgeon cut out your current scars and sew your skin back together again. They may heal a little better the second time around and hopefully your doctor will provide free revisions. When they cut out the scars they don’t put you under, they use a local anesthetic.

My body had difficulty dissolving these stitches and some had to be surgically removed. The pain I experienced from them was due to the build up of fluid where my body was trying to break them down.

Monday, May 6th was my chest surgery eight-year anniversary and I can say that I don’t feel any pain in my chest or along the scar lines.

The first was the Travelmate (which looks like a blue medicine spoon). I liked the Travelmate when it worked, but there were many times where I didn’t place it right or get the suction right making it easy to have things go where you don’t want them to while urinating.

I then purchased the DJ Know’s Dick pee and packer. I found the packer to be too large (5 inches is just too much) and the tubing to use for urination to be impossible. (I’m not even giving a link this thing was such a waste of 50 bucks).

So then I moved onto the P-Style. I LOVED the p-style. The downside to it was that it was bulky, but otherwise it was fool proof. I never used it as a urinal, but found comfort using it in the stalls.

Hope this helps!

JustBathroomSigns.com has launched new gender-inclusive bathroom signs to provide equal access to people of all identities.

The new signs help alleviate the distress that transgender citizens may endure while choosing the public facility best for them. Along with male and female symbols, the signs feature different symbolic representations to show variety and inclusivity. Inspired by a sign from the Parsons School of Designs, the sign’s language reads, “Anyone can use this restroom, regardless of your gender identity or expression.”

The issue of restroom access for transgender people is a hotly debated issue. In recent weeks, Arizona Representative John Kavanagh proposed a bill that prohibited people from entering public restrooms, showers, dressing rooms, or lockers if the designated sex of the facility did not match the biological gender on their birth certificate. The bill is still currently being contested. An Idaho transgender woman was cited for trespassing for using a female bathroom in a grocery store.

Psychotherapist Jean Malpas, the Director of the Gender and Family Project for the Ackerman Institute for the Family, gave insight into the public inclusion of gender-inclusive bathroom signs. “I noticed that the ‘The Modern,’ the restaurant attached to the Museum of Modern Art, had an all gender bathroom, and nobody, younger and older, male and female patrons, seemed to mind at all.”

In response to the signage, Malpas favors a gender-inclusive representation. “The point is that gender depends on one’s identity, and not on the sex they were born in or assigned at birth.”

To view the signs, visit http://www.justbathroomsigns.com/transgender-signs

This article by the New York Times, Changing Sexes, and Changing Teams, goes into the stories of folk who are athletes and transgender with a focus on the decision to begin transitioning and the impact that made on their athletic dreams.

From this student petition, and from a widely-attended rally, the administrators at Smith College have announced that they will have a committee review their current policy when they convene in September.

I hope that this committee actually does review this policy and make changes where changes need to be made. Whatever the outcome is, as I have always said in the past, students’ voices will create change. Your voices matter.
