After the heartbreak and let down by those that voted for Amendment One in North Carolina yesterday, I thought this poster might give us all a little wind under our sail. Lambda Legal is already reporting that amendments like these will soon be a non-issue as we continue to forge forward with federal recognition for all people’s civil rights and voters are given the real truth of what an amendment will do to the law. Lambda Legal reported that: “While this is a discouraging loss, we know the battle isn’t over. By increasing margins, people in this country support equality, and we are moving towards the day when antigay measures will lose at the ballot box. Our opponents celebrate today, but their celebration will be short lived.

Even though I’m not a North Carolina resident, I’ve become a passionate advocate against Amendment One because of my dedication to all in the LGBTQ community and the wonderful treatment I’ve received in the past from Universities in NC that have brought me in to speak. Although the amendment banning same-sex and other “non-traditional” marriage recognition has passed, hope isn’t completely lost.

If you are at all concerned about all American’s protections (and those coming to the U.S. for hopes of a better life) then start reading up and educating yourself and others for the November elections.

The one thing that always brings me hope is the strength that the LGBTQ community continues to carry and the support from Allies.

All of you who live in North Carolina. Please go out and vote AGAINST Amendment One tomorrow!
